Street Stock

IN ADDITION TO ALL GENERAL AND SAFETY RULES - THE FOLLOWING CLASS RULES WILL APPLY.


STREET STOCK (FT)


GENERAL
This class is intended for four wheel drive trucks and Jeeps that are primarily street driven, have minimal modifications and are street legal. Engine swaps allowed as per class rules, frame must be correct for body.
Vehicles must meet all safety requirements for this class. (See General Rules)

BODY (street stock) (FT)
1) Any model jeep or truck, stock steel body (minimal trimming allowed for tire clearance only)
2) Wheel base must be stock for frame and body
3) Firewall cannot be cut, relocated or reshaped
4) Must retain factory floor pan
5) Flatbeds – Minimum dimensions: must be the same width as the cab and extend to the rear most part of the frame and Substantial enough to carry cargo.
6) Must retain all stock glass
7) Headlights and taillights required and must be functional
8) Front bumper required
9) Factory interior shall not be removed.


CHASSIS (street stock) (FT)

1). Unmodified OEM factory frame bumper to bumper
2). Minimum 4 point roll cage required for open top vehicles (NHRA specification/guidelines recommended)
3). Suspension must be stock, Aftermarket lift kits allowed
4) No removal of leaf springs
5) Stock OEM front and rear differentials, transmission and transfer case only (may be upgraded with stronger OEM parts).
6) Transmission brakes (trans brake) NOT allowed
7) Fuel tank, battery and radiator must be in stock location
8) 4 wheel brakes mandatory, OEM dual reservoir master cylinder required
9) Unaltered DOT tires only.

ENGINE (street stock) (FT)
1). Motor must pull 17 “ of vacuum at 800 RPM’s
2). Big block engines in full size trucks only
3). No V8’s in mini trucks or mini SUV’s (Unless OEM)
4). Motor must be located in stock location.
5). No aluminum engine blocks or aluminum heads (Unless originally OEM equipped) 6). Carburetion - Single gas carburetor only, limited to 4150 / 4160 series only (no Predators, Dominators, SV-1’s)
7). OEM fuel injection only
8). Cast aluminum intake only (no tunnel rams or sheet metal intakes)
9). No power adders. No Nitrous, No turbocharger(s), No superchargers. With the following exceptions:

a). Factory installed OEM turbochargers permitted on diesels only.

10). Headers are allowed, mufflers are required and exhaust must extend to behind the driver’s seat.

                                                                             HOT STOCK

            IN ADDITION TO ALL GENERAL AND SAFETY RULES - THE FOLLOWING CLASS RULES WILL APPLY.




GENERAL
This all motor class is intended for four wheel drive trucks and Jeeps that have been slightly modified for competition but still utilize mostly stock components. They must be capable of being made street legal. Engine swaps allowed, but frame must be correct for body.
Vehicles must meet all safety requirements for this class. (See general rules).
BODY (hot street) (FT)
1) Any model jeep or truck, stock steel or OEM (street weight) equivalent fiberglass body parts. (minimal cutting allowed only for tire clearance) No race bodies allowed.
2) Must retain Full steel cab or tub, doors and bed must be retained. (No removal of inner steel panels)
3) Firewall can be reshaped minimally, but not cut and relocated
4) Wheel base cannot be altered, must match body.(No body swaps).
5) Flatbeds – Minimum dimensions: must be the same width as the cab and extend to the rear most part of the frame and Substantial enough to carry cargo.
6) Must retain stock glass
7) Headlights and taillights required and must be functional
8) Front bumper required
9) factory interior shall not be removed.
10) Race seats permitted, must have a minimum of two (2) seats and must be securely mounted to the floor.


CHASSIS
1) Any unmodified OEM factory frame bumper to bumper. Frame shall retain two (2) stock cross members with the following exceptions permitted:

a). Relocating of cross member(s) allowed, Modifications allowed.

2) Minimum 4 point roll cage required for open top vehicles (NHRA specification/guidelines recommended)
3). Rear suspension must be leaf-spring unless equipped otherwise from the factory.
4) Front suspension may be leaf-spring, coil & radius, or IFS. Other front suspension styles permitted if OEM for that vehicle. (Relocation of mounting points not permitted).
5) Must have a minimum of two leaf per spring pack (front or rear)
6) Ladder bars permitted (No 4-link, no 3-link, no floaters, no coil over shocks).
7) Any OEM front and rear differentials.
8) Any stock OEM transfer case allowed (No chain drives allowed)
9) Any OEM Transmission (modifications and trans brakes allowed). Should be shielded, stock steel floor acceptable. (see General Rules).
10) Radiator must be located in front of motor
11) Fuel tank (fuel cell allowed) and battery may be relocated (see general rules).
12) 4 wheel brakes mandatory, OEM dual reservoir or duel master cylinder required.
13) Maximum 46.5” unaltered DOT tires.

ENGINE
1) Engine must pull 15“ of vacuum at 800 RPM’s
2) Big block engines in full size trucks only(engine swaps permitted).
3) Engine must be located in approximate stock location. (Firewall will dictate engine location).
4) No aluminum engine blocks or heads (unless OEM equipped for that vehicle)
5) Single four barrel cast aluminum intake only. (No tunnel rams or sheet metal intakes)
6) Carburetion - Single gas carburetor only, limited to 4150 / 4160 series only.
7) OEM fuel injection only
8) No power adders. No Nitrous, No turbocharger(s), No superchargers.
With the following exceptions:

a). Factory installed OEM turbochargers permitted on diesels only.

9). Open headers are allowed for competition

      (A place for the Super Stocks to go, who are tired of hitting the brakes to keep from braking out.)

PRO STOCK  (4 Wheel Modified)

( There will be some trucks Grand Fathered in to this class that raced in 4-wheel modified that were door slammer type trucks with round tube chassis. in 2010 & before.)

(If we have a National Event The Grand Fathered trucks would have to be moved to a higher class to participate.)

(If we have a National Event Pro Stock will be ran with Un-Cut DOTS. Outlaw Pro Stock will be ran with cut tires and NOS. )

 

IN ADDITION TO ALL GENERAL AND SAFETY RULES - THE FOLLOWING CLASS RULES WILL APPLY.

 

GENERAL

This class is for highly modified stock appearing four wheel drive race vehicles. Altered frames, race bodies and high performance race engines allowed.

No Passengers

BODY

1) Any style jeep or truck body allowed - must be recognizable - No excessive cutting of the body. Fenders and roof must be retained if originally equipped. No narrowing of body permitted. 
2) Body must extend to and cover all front engine components
3) A firewall and floorpan must be present protecting driver from engine and driveline components. 
Minimum of 16 ga. Steel or .060 (.120 recommended) aluminum required. The firewall will extend from door to door and from the floor pan to the base of the windshield. The floor pan will extend from door to door and front of the cab or tub to to rear of the cab or tub. (NOTE the floor pan and firewall shall be securely attached to each other and to the frame work of the chassis).
4) Center seat acceptable, must be located no more then 84" from the center of the front axle to the bottom of the seat back.
5) Windshield not required.

DRIVE TRAIN

1) Main frame rails can be constructed from a minimum of 2x3 rectangular tubing and must be a minimum of .080 wall thickness. No round tubing or ladder style frames allowed. Round tube can be used for additional bracing. The main frame is considered from front axle tube centerline to rear axle tube centerline.
2) Minimum 8 point roll cage required
3) Any type suspension allowed
4) Any style OEM or aftermarket chain or gear drive transfer set ups allowed
5) Dual independent master cylinder brake system required
6) Four independent wheel brakes required
7) Maximum 46.5” DOT tires Cut or Uncut.
8) 3000 lbs big block, 2700 lbs small block
9) Maximum wheelbase 130”

ENGINE

1) Any automotive type engine acceptable
2) Engine must be located with # 1 spark plug no more than 12” behind the center of the front axle tube
3) Big block aluminum engine blocks not permitted.  Small block aluminum blocks are allowed.
4) Any type of cylinder head and intake manifold allowed
5) Maximum of 4 barrels of carburetion (split and stretched Dominators allowed, single Predator only)
6) Vacuum pumps and dry sump allowed
7) Pump or Racing Gasoline only, No Alcohol, Additives or Nitrous

Vehicles must meet all safety requirements.

This class is intended for highly modified 4 wheel drive vehicles allowing tube chassis, any engine location and aluminum engine blocks. These vehicles need not resemble any factory produced vehicle.

No Passengers

BODY

1) A body is required. It can be constructed from metal, fiberglass or plastic and can be any design
2) A firewall and floorpan must be present protecting driver from engine and driveline components

DRIVETRAIN

1) Chassis material, design and workmanship must meet safety requirements and tech approval
2) Rear engine vehicles roll cage must provide adequate protection to driver legs
3) Any type suspension allowed
4)
Paddle tires or maximum 46.5” DOT tires with alterations (Cuts) allowed
5) Vera Trac and similar tires are acceptable on front
6)
Minimum weight with driver and power adders 2450 big block, 2150 small block. Minimum weight with driver and no power adders 2150 big block, 1850 small block. 
7) Dual independent master cylinder brake system required
8) Four independent wheel brakes required
9) Maximum wheelbase 150”

ENGINE

1) Any automotive type engine acceptable (aluminum blocks allowed)
2) Multiple carbs, Injection and Nitrous allowed (no blowers or turbos)
3) Gas or Alcohol only, no nitro methane or similar fuel accelerators
4) Any safely constructed competition exhaust allowed

Vehicle must meet all safety requirements.

5) Blower restraints and belt shield required. Blower and hat blanket and fuel line shield highly recommended

CONSISTENCY CLASS


1) Any vehicle that enters into and competes in an Southeast Texas Mud Motor-Plex class may compete in the Consistency Class.
     If the class that you fit into is not offered at a particular race, you may enter the Consistency Class. However, if your class is available, you must run your class to be eligible.

2) After two runs, the difference between the two times is your consistency score.
IE: truck 1 runs a 2.500 and a 3.500 his score is 1.000
      truck 2 runs a 6.805 and a 7.312 his score is 0.507 and is the winner.

3) All general and class safety rules apply as written for your class rules.

     IN ADDITION TO ALL GENERAL AND SAFETY RULES - THE FOLLOWING CLASS RULES WILL APPLY.

1.  Pump gas or diesel only

2.  Charging system required

3.  Cooling system required

4.  Must be trail rated by track owner discretion

 

5.  Brake system working front & back, pinion allowed in bog. Vehicles running the BOG PIT CLASSES ONLY will be allowed the use of pinion brakes . NOTE: 4 wheel brakes are highly recommended and shall become mandatory on all vehicles on January 1st of the 2013 season.
 

6.  Seat belts with shoulder harness required

 

7.  Must wear helmet

 

8.  4 wheel drive

 

9.Vehicle with open top must have roll bar.

  Renegade Limited Pit

IN ADDITION TO ALL GENERAL AND SAFETY RULES - THE FOLLOWING CLASS RULES WILL APPLY.

 

GENERAL

This class is intended for trucks and Jeeps that have been highly modified for competition. Although these vehicles can be gutted, they must appear stock and must utilize a full factory frame in their chassis. Engine with cubic inch limit, frame, body combination allowed.

BODY

1) Stock steel body or OEM equivalent fiberglass body required (no race bodies)

2) Gutting of body is allowed. Must retain stock appearance from exterior

3) Front tires have to be Fifty percent in stock fender wells

4) Firewall and floor pan can be cut and relocated

5) Flatbeds must meet tech approval

6) Windshield glass not required

7) Headlights and taillights not required

8) Interior can be gutted

9) Driver seat can be located in the center of the vehicle, but cannot be moved toward the rear

10) Bumpers not required

 

CHASSIS

3) Maximum distance from center of front axle to seat back 84”

4) Any suspension (3 link, 4 link, coil overs) allowed, no backhalves

OPEN PIT

IN ADDITION TO ALL GENERAL AND SAFETY RULES - THE FOLLOWING CLASS RULES WILL APPLY.

GENERAL

This class is intended for highly modified 4 wheel drive vehicles allowing tube chassis, any engine location, aluminum engine blocks and super chargers. These vehicles need not resemble any factory produced vehicle.

No Passengers

BODY

1) A body is required. It can be constructed from metal, fiberglass or plastic and can be any design

2) A firewall and floorpan must be present protecting driver from engine and driveline components

DRIVE TRAIN

1) Chassis material, design and workmanship must meet safety requirements and tech approval

2) Rear engine vehicles roll cage must provide adequate protection to driver legs

3) Any type suspension allowed

4) Paddle tires or maximum 46.5” DOT tires with alterations (Cuts) allowed

5) Minimum weight with driver and power adders 2450 big block, 2150 small block. Minimum weight with driver and no power adders 2150 big block, 1850 small block.

6) Dual independent master cylinder brake system required

7) Brakes front & back, pinion brakes allowed in bog. Vehicles running the BOG PIT CLASSES ONLY will be allowed the use of pinion brakes (as per class rules). NOTE: 4 wheel brakes are highly recommended and shall become mandatory on all vehicles on January 1st of the 2013 season.

8) Maximum wheelbase 150”

ENGINE

1) Any automotive type engine acceptable (aluminum blocks allowed)

2) Blowers, Turbo Chargers, Injection, Multiple carbs, and Nitrous allowed

3) Gas or Alcohol only, no nitro methane or similar fuel accelerators

4) Any safely constructed competition exhaust allowed

5) Blower restraints and belt shield required. Blower and hat blanket and fuel line shield highly recommended

Special Note

1) All vehicles must be equipped with a tether-operated kill-switch mounted at the rear of the vehicle.

Vehicle must meet all safety requirements.

GENERAL
This class is intended for highly modified 4 wheel drive vehicles allowing tube chassis, any engine location and aluminum engine blocks.  This class is intended for trucks that go through the mud rather than over it.
IN ADDITION TO ALL GENERAL AND SAFETY RULES - THE FOLLOWING CLASS RULES WILL APPLY.

BODY
1) A body is required. It can be constructed from metal, fiberglass or plastic and can be any design.
2 ) A firewall and floorpan must be present protecting driver from engine and driveline components.

CHASSIS
1) Chassis material, design and workmanship must meet safety requirements and tech approval.
2) Rear engine vehicles roll cage must provide adequate  protection to driver legs.
3) Any type suspension allowed.
4) Minimum 44” Agricultural/Industrial Tire.
5) All tires must be same diameter as stamped by Manufacturer.
6) Minimum of 1 ton front and rear differentials.
7) Minimum of 6 point rollcage required.

8) Brakes front & back, pinion brakes allowed in bog, dual master cylinder required .

ENGINE
1) Any automotive type engine acceptable (aluminum blocks allowed)
2) Any carburetor or injection allowed, NOS, Superchargers, or Turbos allowed.
3) Gas or Alcohol only, no nitro methane or similar fuel accelerators.
4) Open Headers allowed.

GENERAL REGULATIONS


The event will be run by classes .  Subsequent rounds will be determined at the end of each class. Driver or representative of each crew is responsible for checking class sheets for next round.
Lane choice will be determined by a drawing prior to each race and every round .
Entire class will be informed when their class is up next and the order they will run. Contestants will be called in pairs to the staging area. If you are interrupting the overall timing of the event you could be disqualified for that run.

If a contestant encounters mechanical trouble, they must inform the officials before his opponent has proceeded to the staging area to be moved back the end of class.
In the event there is more than one violation during a pass , the violation that occurs first wll be disqualified for that round .
If during a race neither vehicle crosses the finish line under its own power , that race will be reran at a later time

Idle speed will be maintained in pit area at all times.
A driver will be disqualified for recklessness or dangerous behavior.
Use of profanity or threats by any contestant or member of their crew will result in that vehicle and or driver being disqualified & banned from the track and loss of all money and points
Mud racing is a growing sport. As officials, we cannot be expected to have infinite foresight therefore, be advised that just because a specific item is not covered by a written rule that it may be considered either legal or illegal. Track officials will have the final word on all new items to come along

The rules and or regulations set forth are designed to provide for the orderly conduct of racing events and to establish minimum acceptable requirements for such events. These rules shall govern the conditions of all events. And by participating in these events, all participants are deemed to have complied with these rules. No express or implied warranty of safety shall result from publication of or compliance with these rules and/or regulations They are in no way a guarantee against injury or death to a participants, spectator or official.
The race director shall be empowered to permit minor deviation from any of these specifications herein or impose any further restrictions that in his opinion do not alter the minimum acceptable requirements. No expressed or implied warranty of safety shall result from such alteration of specifications.
Any interpretation or deviation of these rules is left to the discretion of the officials. THEIR DECISION IS FINAL.


SAFETY IMPORTANCE
Mud racing, since the first organized event, has been predicated largely on safety. Methods of operation, facilities, construction and competition practice are regularly reviewed and updated where necessary to help the sport safe conduct. Procedures in general are subject to constant change due to the sports progressive evolutionary pattern. Total responsibility for everyone however, must share mud racing’s safety associated with the sport. Close observance of the standards set forth in this rulebook is an important fundamental.

SAFETY REGULATIONS

Vehicles must operate in a safe manner at all times. You can be disqualified for operating any vehicle in an unsafe manor or showing poor sportsmanship.

All vehicles must pass a safety inspection.

No loose items in bed or cab of vehicle.

Each wheel will have all lug nuts & tight, no hubcaps or beauty rings.

Battery must be secured, and not in the drivers compartment.

No loose parts on vehicle, I.E. fenders, bumpers, lights ECT.

Suspension, steering & brakes must be in good working order & safe.

Fuel system & tank must be secured, with fuel caps and in safe condition.

All vehicles must have a neutral safety switch or a driver in the seat while the motor is running, all solenoid shifters must have relays.

Drivers and co-drivers in all classes must wear seat belts and helmets.

All vehicles above STOCK must have roll cage with at least 5-point restraints. Threaded pipe fittings or lap weld pipe is not allowed (round tube only)

Any ballast must be secured, No liquid or loose ballast.

. A fire shield or wall must separate occupants from engine compartment.

Fire extinguisher required in all classes. (approved and working)

All vehicles must have brakes on wheels capable of locking and in good working order.

Once a vehicle is in the staging area, only driver & co-driver allowed in vehicle.

If vehicle makes it through pits, both must remain in vehicle and return to pit area.

Vehicle must stop immediately upon signal from official.

In Fast Track Contestant can only drive one vehicle in each class. Each driver & co-driver must be registered.

These updated rules supercede & prevail over all previous rules written or “unwritten”; drivers will be informed of any changes or additions to these rules at the drivers meeting.

 

GENERAL AND SAFETY RULES FOR 2012 -----------------------

GENERAL RULES
1. All competitors must be at least 15 years of age with a valid driver’s license or permit to participate. Under 18 competitors must provide written parental consent.
2. No alcohol or drugs permitted. This policy will be strictly enforced and presence of alcohol or drugs will automatically disqualify the driver and vehicle from competition.
3. No riders permitted in vehicle in classes Above Super Gas.
Renegade Limited Pit
4. All participants and crew members shall present themselves in a neat and professional manner (shirts and pants mandatory) at all times during the event.. (Driving suits, overalls or matching crew uniforms (Shirts or shirts and pants) recommended.

5. The appearance of your vehicle should be presented in a clean and professional manner. Offensive Graphics, pictures, lettering are not acceptable.
6. In the event of disqualification of vehicle, no refunds will be allowed.
7. It is mandatory that a licensed driver be seated in the normal driving position any time the engine is running, including pit area, staging lanes, turn around and return roads. Failure to follow this procedure will result in disqualification.
8. No high-speed driving or “hot-rodding” will be tolerated anywhere except on the race track. NO WARNING WILL BE GIVEN. These actions are grounds for immediate disqualification.

9. The tracks “Tech Official” will have finial approval of a race vehicles legality and safety for any and all classes. The tech official will have the right to call for a re-tech OR disqualify any vehicle that they feel does not meet the safety requirement. (Refusal to comply with a re-tech - will be automatic disqualification).

Protest Procedures
1. Participant protests may only be filed by the driver or registered vehicle owner competing in the same event, in the same class as the vehicle being protested.

2. Any protest must be made within 30 minutes of class competition. The protest must be made in writing and must specifically identify in detail the nature of a single violation and must be accompanied by the protest fee of $200 cash.

3. The Tracks Tech Official - present at the event will investigate and decide the protest as promptly as possible and shall inform the parties of the protest his decision.

4. If the protest is sustained, the protested racer will be disqualified from that class only. Adjustments in pay and standings will be made, and the protest fee will be returned to the protesting racer.

5. If the protest is over-ruled, $150 of the protest fee will be awarded to the racer who was protested and $50 will be given to the Race Promoter.
6. The Tracks Tech Official reserves the right to reject any protest that it determines, in its sole and absolute discretion, is frivolous or intended to harass another participant or to otherwise gain some unfair competitive advantage.

 

SAFETY RULES

For the purpose of safety rules the following classes will be referred to as “Pro classes“

Fast Track classes ---Pro, Open Paddles, Pro Stock, Two Wheel Modified ,Super Gas and Super stock classes, Will be considered as Pro classes.

Pit classes Tractor Tire, Open Pit, Renegade Pit & Renegade Limited Pit will be considered Pro-classes.

For the purpose of safety rules the following fast track classes will be referred to as “Sportsman Classes“ Economy, Hot Stock, Street Stock and Consistency) NOTE: All Pro-Class vehicles running in Consistency class must comply to the safety guidelines of the Pro-class they fit into as per tech.

For the purpose of safety rules, All other classes in the categories of Pit - will be considered as Sportsmen classes.

Drivers Safety
1. Sportsman classes require each driver to wear a safety approved SFI 31.2 or newer helmet. Long pants, and sleeved shirt and leather shoes. (No open foot wear allowed). To maintain safety and professionalism a SFI 3.2A-1 fire suit, gloves, neck collar and shoes are highly recommended for all sportsman classes.
2. A SFI 3.2A-1 approved fire suit is mandatory in all pro classes. Including, gloves, shoes, neck collar and helmet. All Nitrous and alcohol classes require the addition of a SFI approved two layer fire suit and head sock).

 3. All race vehicles in the “Pro and Sportsman classes” are required to have attached to the vehicle, in plain view, a fully charged, 2 1/2 lb. minimum dry chemical or CO-2 fire extinguisher with a dial gauge, approved by ICC, UL or Coast Guard, and equipped with a suitable quick-release bracket. Extinguisher must be securely mounted within driver’s reach (in front of or to the side of driver). Behind the driver is not acceptable.

4. (A) All open cockpit vehicles in the Pro classes (Mod and Open) running alcohol and / or nitrous are recommended to have an onboard fire system (Hy-lon or cold fire) with at least 1 nozzle directed towards the drivers feet and a 2nd nozzle directed at the engine away from the driver) Activation must be accessible by the driver while secured in the drivers seat with a 5 point harness.

5. In the Sportsman classes, Stock factory seat belt and shoulder belts allowed. It is highly recommended that vehicles equipped with a racing seat (or seats) will incorporate the use of a 4 point harness for the driver).

6. A 5 point safety harness is required for the driver in all pro classes. Arm restraints and / or window nets highly recommended)

 

 

Vehicle General Requirements


1).
Vehicle must have rigid front and rear hitching point.
(A) Tow hook retaining clips required.
(B) Hitching point must be easily accessible and of substantial construction. No chains, straps, cables, or frame rail holes permitted.
(C) If you are using your stock or add-on bumper, the mounting brackets must be at least 1/4” thick.
(D) A rear axle hitching point is acceptable on vehicles with 3 or 4-link suspension, subject to Tech approval.
(E) A pintle hook (rather than a clevis) will pass as long as the top jaw locks and releases.

2. With the exception of the “Pro” and “Open” classes which may use a separate (detached) battery pack and / or a funny car style starter. All other vehicles must have adequate battery power and starter on board to start the vehicle while the driver is securely fasten in the drivers seat.

 

3. Vehicle batteries must be securely fasten to the vehicle with proper hold downs to prevent it from coming loose in the event of an accident (No straps, bungee cords etc.) allowed. Batteries shall not be mounted in the drivers compartment. (An approved battery box or enclosure is highly recommended)

 

NO VEHICLE SHALL BE STARTED OR LEFT RUNNING WITHOUT A LICENSED OR PERMITTED OPERATOR IN THE DRIVERS SEAT.


4.
All fuel lines, coolant lines, belts and hoses must be in good condition.

5. Every vehicle must have an ignition kill switch.

(A) The ignition kill switch must be within driver’s reach while he/she is fastened securely in harness. (A stock ignition switch is adequate for Sportsman classes).
(B) The kill switch must be clearly labeled “KILL SWITCH” or “ON” and “OFF”.
(C) Kill switch must shut power off to all electric pumps, nitrous and ignition systems.
(D) Pro Class vehicles must have a master kill switch mounted at rear as close to centered as possible (accessible when vehicle is on side or upside down) This switch must disconnect all battery power and shut off engine. Switch must be clearly labeled.

(A second master switch within the drivers reach is highly recommended).
(E) - Magneto powered vehicles will need a relay to comply (these can be supplied through many high performance parts outlets).
6. No engine or transmission cooling devices or lines will be allowed inside the driver’s compartment of the vehicle.
7. With the exception of OEM fuel systems in the Sportsmen classes - No electronic controlled fuel injection systems, clutch management or traction control devices are allowed in the Pro classes).

8. The use of electronic, digital or programmable ignition boxes for ignition and nitrous control in the Pro-classes are allowed.

 

 

Engine


1. All supercharged vehicles are required to use aluminum blower studs, belt shield and SFI approved blower restraints. (Blower and hat blanket and fuel line shield highly recommended).
2. All Pro Classes must use 3 return springs on throttle: 1 on pedal (or a toe loop ) and 2 on carburetor or injection.

3. Vehicles with (mechanical) aftermarket alcohol fuel injection systems must have a fuel shut off valve. The fuel shut off valve shall be securely fastened within the drivers reach while they are fastened in the driver’s seat with a 5-point harness. - NOTE: A separate shut off is not required for stock OEM fuel injection systems in sportsman classes).
4. SFI approved balancer is highly recommended on all modified engines in the sportsmen classes. (NOTE: Stock harmonic balancer allowed as long as the pulley diameter exceeds balancer diameter).

5. All Pro classes require a SFI approved steel harmonic balancer.

Drive train


1. All vehicles must have driveshaft loops.
(A) Driveshaft loops must be of substantial rigid construction. All mounting bolts must be a minimum of 5/16” diameter.

(B) Each driveshaft must have a minimum of 2 loops. If a vehicle has a shaft no longer than 24”, 1 loop, properly centered, will suffice.
(C) Loop location is to be no less than 6” and no more than 12” on the solid end of the shaft, and 1” past slider on end with slip joint: or 3 loops must be evenly spaced so that if the slip joint breaks, shaft will not drop.
(D) In addition to the above - All pro-class vehicles are required to have u-joint guards or shielding around all exposed u-joints. . Guards will be 360degree, 3” wide. Guards will be made of ¼” aluminum or 1/8” steel, secured with minimum 5/16” hardware

2. Transmissions must be properly shielded. (NOTE: Non Planetary - gear driven units do not require shielding or blankets (I.e. SCS or Pro-fab units etc.).
(A) Mechanical clutch equipped vehicles must have SFI approved bell housing with block saver plate. Must be installed with approved manufacturer’s hardware.

(B) - All vehicle are required to have a SFI approved Flex plate or Fly wheel)
(C) - All automatic transmission equipped vehicles are required to have a SFI approved transmission safety blanket, SFI approved transmission shield Or SFI Approved transmission case. (It is also recommended that all pro classes install a SFI approved flex plate shield or bell housing).
3. The running gear of each vehicle will be inspected to verify the safety of such critical parts as steering, brakes, welds, tires, and body condition.
4. All chain driven vehicles must have a shield or guard of 1/8” steel (minimum thickness) or ¼” aluminum covering the top and ends of the unit. All Shielding must be securely mounted to the engine or frame structure to contain chain in the event of breakage. (Stock Frame can pass as end cover subject per tech approval).
5. All weight added to race vehicles must be securely attached per tech approval. Added weight must be brought to the attention of the Tech Inspector. (NOTE: All added weight shall be painted white )

Fuel
1). All fuel tanks must be isolated from driver’s compartment by a firewall.
(A) - All sportsman classes - gas tanks must be in stock location. NOTE: Stock in cab tanks may be relocated - But must be mounted under the body of the vehicle isolated inside the frame perimeters. Pro classes - Fuel cells allowed as per class rules

(B) Fuel lines must be isolated from driver’s compartment by sub-floor.
(C) Tanks must have adequate latching gas caps.
(D) Tanks must have sufficient capacity to make full runs.
(E) - Engine MUST be turned OFF while refueling).

(F) Fuel tanks (or Fuel cells) must be securely fastened with a minimum of 2 metal straps, (1” minimum width) secured with the proper hardware (3/8” minimum).

(G) NO pressurized fuel systems allowed. All fuel systems shall be operated by mechanical or electrical means only.

Nitrous
2). Nitrous Systems must be commercially available and installed per manufacturer’s recommendations.
(A) A 1/4 turn ball valve within driver’s reach must be used to shut off bottle.
(B) If two bottles are used, both must have ball valves and must be on 1 cable to shut off flow.
(C) The electrical power source for fuel pumps and nitrous switches must pass through
the master kill switch..

(D) The Nitrous activation switch must be loaded button (momentary switch).
(E) Nitrous filter is mandatory.
(F) Heating of nitrous bottles by any open flame (Torch) is NOT permitted.
(G) The use of any agents other than nitrous oxide as part of, or mixed with, is prohibited.

Brakes
1). All vehicles must have working and adequate brake systems. ( Dual reservoir master cylinder required.

(A). Four (4) Independent wheel brakes required for all classes for the 2009 season . (B). Braking systems will be inspected and tested during tech inspection.

(C)  All Brake rotors will be inspected for heat cracks, Rotors found with heat cracks will not pass tech inspection.
(C) Steel brake lines recommended. (Flexible steel braided brake lines allowed as long as they are securely fastened).
(D) Stock flex lines to calipers are acceptable. (Steel braided flex lines recommended in all Pro classes).

Tires
1. D.O.T. tires must have raised D.O.T. stamping on the sidewall.

2. Tires will be sized by manufactures, raised lettering on the sidewall.
3. No recapped tires will be allowed.
4. Tires must be mounted with NO missing lug nuts.

Body & Chassis
1. Firewall and floorboard must be of adequate construction to protect driver from engine and driveline components. (.060 steel or aluminum minimum)
2. All Sportsman class vehicles with a soft or removable top must be equipped with a roll bar and two (2) support bars (a 4-point cage is highly recommended). Securely fastened to the vehicle with .060 steel plates at mounting points. Roll Bar mounting plates must to be “welded to” or plates bolted through body with at least 4 ea. Of 3/8” bolts and hardware at each mounting point (4 required). Bars to be a minimum of 1 5/8” x .123 wall mild steel tubing.

3) Manufactured or purchased “show” or “dress” bars mounted in the cab or bed are unacceptable.

 

4) All roll cages will be made of a minimum of  .090 wall steel tube with a minimum diameter of 1 ½.(Exhaust tubing will not be acceptable) Bends must be continuously round with no sharp corners or edges.

5) All pro classes will have a roll cage that will be attached to the frame at a minimum of 4 points. Open cage vehicles will be required to have a cage attached by 6 points to the frame

6) Frames and roll cages will be substantially constructed and designed and must meet approval by the tech officials .

7) All weld joints must conform to approved welding procedures and standards set forth by the ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers)

 



Safety is of the utmost importance AT SOUTHEAST TEXAS MUD MOTOR-PLEX LLC and we as PROMOTERS AND racers rely on quality products and qualified personel to keep us safe in case of an accident. These rules are in place so that we can race for years to come. We don't want to see or be statistics.
